BYJ: I do not think so. I never forget all the love that Japanese fans give me, and I come here any time again. Yesterday is yesterday, I believe that kind of accident will never happen again in the future. (nod, nod, smile) I want to see my family again. (smile)

A host and a hostess-

S Korean actor Bae Yong Joon arrives to tumultuous welcome

Bae Yong Joon arrives at Narita airport on Thursday.

Thursday, November 25, 2004 at 16:22 JST

NARITA - South Korean heartthrob actor Bae Yong Joon arrived to a huge reception at Narita airport on Thursday afternoon. The 32-year-old star - the most popular foreign celebrity in Japan this year - is here to attend the opening of an exhibition of his photos and outfits.

More than 3,500 screaming middle-aged women besieged the arrival lobby at the airport as Bae emerged shortly before 2 p.m. Several TV networks televised his arrival live. They also broadcast him boarding his plane in Seoul.

Several hundred fans had camped in the Narita terminal from 6 a.m. to get the best possible vantage spot. Around 420 police, including 70 anti-riot squad members were mobilized to control fans.

When Yon-sama, as Bae is fondly called in Japan due to his starring role in "Winter Sonata," finally appeared, the terminal was so congested that bewildered passengers arriving on other flights were held back in the customs area for about 20 minutes until the South Korean passed through the lobby.

One 52-year-old woman, who was celebrating her birthday, told a TV reporter: "This is the best birthday present I have ever had." Other fans immediately started emailing photos of Bae on their cell phones to their friends.

Only last Friday, several hundred Japanese women flew to Seoul for the day to get a glimpse of Bae at a film festival, and then flew back to Tokyo in the evening.

Bae's photo exhibit will be held on the 52nd floor of Mori Tower in Roppongi Hills from Friday until Dec 8. Included in the exhibit is his photo album, titled "The Image Vol One." The exhibition will travel throughout Japan after Tokyo.

Bae has been insured for 1 billion yen against accidents during his trip which lasts until Monday.

. . WLS interview Qs . .

This is the latest from one of Yong Joon's interviews in Seoul. She can't give the full article since it is copyrighted. It was done for a magazine and one of the reporter shared with her counterpart in Manila, upon the request from us in another website. I think liezle will provide it on quilt too.

Enjoy it.

Q: How do you feel that your drama series called Winter Love Song is a hit not only in Korea but also in other Asian countries?

YJ: I am fascinated and happy to learn that there are lots of people who love our show. And thank you very much for all their support.

Q: We heard that your director in this drama series has to say 'cut' twice each time you have a scene with your leading lady Choi Ji Woo?

YJ: (laughing) Maybe our director didn't say it loud enough for us to hear.

Q: But the staff said you were carried away with the scene?

YJ: (still smiling) I think we both (Choi Ji Woo) carried away with the scene. As for me I love acting with her because she make the scene so real and she make me feel real.

Q: Is it true that you have a 'silent war' with her right now? And will you consider doing more movies or tv series with her again?

YJ: We haven't seen each other for a while but we are not on a 'war' or something. We might have a little gap but it doesn't mean we're not friends. I am looking forward to work with her again in the near future. I don't know exactly when but I'm hoping because I really feel comfortable being with her and working with her.

Q: How’s your love life now?

YJ: (with a smile) Pretty single.

BYJ, surprise hankerchief ceremony

http://photonews.paran.com/newsphoto/2004/11/20/ss/ss549726_0.jpg

'Yon-sama' BYJ(32) captivated the Japanese women fans with surprise 'hankerchief ceremony' on the 19th.

Appearing in an official occasion in 7 month after he held a large-scaled fan meeting event in Tokyo, Japan in early April, he confirmed the explosive fever of the 'Yon-sama syndrome' in Korea also.

BYJ, attending the Hand Printing Event of the Blue Dragon Award held at Seoul Yongsan CGV theater on that day as the recipient of the new male actor award in the previous year, touched over 500 Japanese woman fans who came to see him with tender killing smile and courteous manners. After the event, 2 ladies who belong to BYJ's
fanclub in Japan showed signs of exhaution while shedding the tear of joy, the place surrounding the event venue became a big confusion due to Asian women including japan.

BYJ, who entered 450-seat Yongsan CGV theater 5 along with actors Jang Jinyoung & Im Soojeong at around 4:25 in the afternooon, affectionately answered to Japanese fans who continously waving hands and shouting 'Yon (Young) Joon-ssi, we love you. Opening his talk modestly with "I thank you because so many came here like this
although there is nothing much I could do for you", he said, "I had received a new actor's award last year in 10 years since debut. There is some feeling that it was late. From now on, I will act harder than the past 10 years", creating the shout of joy in the audience.

On that they when there was no translator, as gagman Shim Hyeonseob, M.C., was at loss as he did not understand what she said at a sudden question in Japanese from a Japanese woman fan, BYJ quickly grabbed a microphone and gave an answer. As it seemed that the question was 'when are you coming to Japan', he told "I will go there on coming 25th. Dear every family, I will meet you there".

At the public announcement of the schedule to visit Japan by BYJ, the hand movements of over 200 Japanese press, who packed the event site suddenly became busy.

BYJ also showed off his knowlege in Japanese as he gave a greeting 'Minasang, Ogengkideshitaka' (Dear everyone, How have you been?)

The highlight happened after he hand stamped on the clay plate. He threw the hankerchief he used to cleanse hand toward the audience abruptly, surprising the audience. At the surprise present from BYJ, the attendee clapped hands and (so happy) they did not know what to do.

To the event on that day, BYJ fans coming overseas from various countries like Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc. converged in a large number. The JTB, a travel company in Japan, put out 'BYJ Tour' package attending the Hand Printing and photo exhibition events, etc. priced at 130,000 Yen (about 1.3 million Won), and 300 people came to Korea through that. A rare scene, of mobilizing 30 policemen
from Yongsan Police Station and 30 security guards in preparation for the accidents, happened.

A Japanese lady (40), who said she came from Osaka, told while jumping up and down, "I came despite the opposition from my husband. Even then, because I saw Yon-sama, I am all right if I died".

The event site on that day. where BYJ spent for only 1 hour and around 30 miinutes, seemed like a place ti unite the Asia into one. Considering the wave length created by each and every steps of his walk, it feel like that it is not awkward now to attach a title of 'The President of Culture' to BYJ.

Sorry Janna, there's only Korean voice with Chinese subtitles.. :(
